I think there’s one question that often comes up about the future of Bakugou and Midoriya’s relationship, and that question essentially is:
What would Midoriya gain in reconciling with Bakugou?
Bakugou and Midoriya seem to represent each other’s pasts– their deepest-rooted weaknesses, their worst moments. Any communication with the other brings forth many (often intense) emotions, which many people tend to read as destructive upon first glance. Of course, who enjoys the feeling of shame, humiliation, and self-reproach? But it’s more than that, as evidenced by the narrative regularly and stubbornly pushing them back towards each other. WHY? Why is it so important to highlight them? What’s the point?
What exists in all positive interpretations of their future relationship is the idea that their presence is a mutual catalyst for overcoming those deeply-rooted weaknesses.
–Which brings us to our overarching theme:
Bakugou and Midoriya mirror each other,
and with constructive purpose.
